On October 14, 2025, the Grass Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce was proud to host a ribbon cutting celebration for one of our community’s favorite gathering spots — Prates Place Bar & Restaurant.
Nearly a year after opening their doors downtown, owners Matt and Carrie Prater continue to pour their hearts (and some of the coldest draft beers in town!) into creating a space where friends, families, and neighbors can come together.
A Local Favorite with Heart
From the start, Matt and Carrie envisioned more than just a bar and restaurant — they wanted to build a place that felt like home. Drawing on Matt’s background in the beer industry and Carrie’s creative touch behind the scenes, the two have crafted a welcoming environment filled with great food, local music, and plenty of friendly faces.
Now with Matt running Prates Place full-time, the energy downtown is only growing. Guests can look forward to more live entertainment, themed events, and community gatherings — all right here in the heart of Grass Lake.
A Toast to Local Success
The Chamber’s ribbon cutting marked more than a milestone — it celebrated the spirit of entrepreneurship and community that makes Grass Lake shine. We’re grateful to Matt and Carrie for their continued commitment to keeping our downtown vibrant and connected.
